• New trends for Weddings in Italy

    March 19th

the-kissMedieval Castles and Renaissance Villas are not the only evocative venues for romantic fairytale Weddings in Italy.  As jet set trendsetters know, look at what Italians look for and you’re on top of the world of ‘in’.  And what’s ‘in’ right now is contemporary ambiance and an immaculate ceremony setting with a backdrop to spur the imagination and invite pondering in the most stylish fashion with a cultural twist.

Italians burst with creativity and they have been designing weddings in royal palaces and magical castles spread all over their territory for centuries, but they have been a little reluctant to part with the traditional settings and venues to discover the uplifting magic in a contemporary location.  And though symbolic weddings are still ‘not their thing’, an artsy-fartsy reception is right up the Italians’ alley.

Bologna is hosting one of the first events to bring young couples up to speed in the art world in order to stage their marriage and reception party.

Bologna is not on the sightseeing list for tourists although it is full of history and definitely one of the most influential culture-, trend-, and politics-centered cities Italy has to offer.  One of the youngest and most popular politicians is from here, Pier Ferdinando Casini, and the city itself is the only one boasting a young mayor who was actually head of the largest trade union in Italy.  Victim of the 1970’s train station bombing and a city that has more lingerie stores than gas stations, Bologna is a prime pick for everything avantguard.

Ca’ La Ghironda is one of the best in modern art museums north of the Tiber River and whose 210 sculptures and over 500 paintings are displayed in this 60’s style venue set out in the plains just outside of Bologna.  A Symbolic Ceremony blessed by sculptures from the likes of Toni Benetton, reception halls decorated with artworks crossing the centuries from Giovanni Fattori to de Chirico to Newman, framed by Italian botanical gardens spreading 10 hectars around a chic, glass enclosed modern art museum.  Italians can now embrace museum weddings as a new trend for the latest generation of couples looking to add that pizzazz to their wedding party.

The Event on March 28th 2009 is organized by the Association of Bridal Consultants Italy group.  The Association is based in Connecticut and has slowly and meticulously grown to over 4000 members worldwide.  That may seem like a small number but the stakes are high.  The Association is very quality conscious and bases its membership point system on strict requirements in training, experience and participation in community activities like organizing charity fairs and holding training seminars.

The highlight of the Event on March 28th is the auction, proceeds of which go entirely to Telefono Azzurro, a hotline for children.  Some of the items on auction include a week in Cancun, Mexico; an engagement photoshoot; a wedding gown; and a set of gold balsamic vinegar tasting spoons!
